Arabiers runs private, guided Ramayana Trail tours across Sri Lanka, from a 6-day introduction to a 21-day pilgrimage, starting at USD 597 per person. Each itinerary follows the sites tied to the epic of Rama, Sita, Hanuman and Ravana — Sita Amman Temple, the Ashok Vatika at Hakgala, Ravana Ella and more — with private transport, an English-speaking driver and half-board hotels included. Arabiers is licensed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA TA/2024/0284).
Sri Lanka — the teardrop island off southern India — holds one of the deepest living links to the Hindu epic Ramayana. The legend places Sita's captivity, Hanuman's search and Ravana's kingdom here, and the landscape is dotted with temples, caves and gardens venerated for those events. Arabiers, a Colombo-based, SLTDA-licensed tour operator, plans and escorts these journeys for Indian and international pilgrims and culture travellers.
The route links the sites of Sita's abduction and rescue, running broadly from the east coast inland to the central hill country and down to the south. Below are the core sites; longer itineraries reach a wider spread of the 50+ identified locations.
Trincomalee. A Shiva temple where, by tradition, Rama prayed seeking Shiva's blessing.
Gurulupotha, Uva Province. Believed to be where Sita was first held after her abduction.
Sita Eliya, near Nuwara Eliya. Where Sita is said to have prayed during her captivity.
The garden identified with the Ashok Vatika where Ravana imprisoned Sita.
Ella. A hideaway cave linked to Ravana and one of Sita's holding places.
Ella. A waterfall with a cave behind it, on the Colombo–Ella route.
Ramboda. Associated with Hanuman's search for Sita.
Mannar. The land bridge linked to Hanuman's army crossing from India.
Arabiers offers fixed-length private itineraries. The 6-day package is fully priced below; the longer itineraries are quoted on request and confirmed against your dates, group size and hotel category.
No matter which Ramayana package you choose we have a list of inclusions that come with each and every itinerary and a couple of items we have excluded from the itineraries.
December to March is usually the easiest season for Ramayana Trail travel, especially for the cultural and hill-country sites. April and November are quieter shoulder months, while the monsoon periods can still be planned around with the right route order.
| Season | Months | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
| Peak | December – March | Driest and best overall; ideal for cultural and hill-country sites. Comfortable temperatures and low rainfall. |
| Shoulder | April & November | Transitional months with occasional rain and fewer crowds. |
| Monsoon | May – October | Southwest monsoon (May–Sep) brings heavier rain to the southwest. Northeast monsoon runs from October to January. |

Apply on the official government portal before you fly — and see our Sri Lanka visa guide for help.
Indian nationals need an ETA before arrival, but the tourist ETA is free of charge for a 30-day stay. Apply at the official portal, eta.gov.lk. The ETA is mandatory for almost all visitors; only the fee is waived for India and other eligible nationalities.
