1. Tour Overview
Earlier this year we had the opportunity to guide a small group of Indian travellers on this amazing Ramayana Trail. One of them said how this journey helped her feel the stories they have always heard as kids is a reality in these real places. We were able to see the sacred temples of Chilaw and visit many places where Rama, Sita, Ravana and Hanuman once walked.From the recent feedbacks we received from our March 2025 guest survey we were able to learn that 74% of Arabiers clients who chose this Ramayana trail said that the highlight of this tour was seeing the exact spot where Sita have undergone her Agni Pariksha at the Divurumpola Temple while some others travelers enjoyed a peaceful meditating at the Seetha Amman Temple in Nuwara Eliya.
2. Package Inclusions
- All taxes and other government charges are included in the package.
- You will be greeted by the Arabiers team at the airport.
- Transfers will be arranged in a comfortable air conditioned Car with an English speaking Driver to assist you further.
3. Package Exclusions
- Travel insurance is not included but we highly recommend you to arrange one separately for your own safety during travelling.
- International flight tickets are not covered in the package.
- Meals that are not specifically mentioned in the meal plan are given.
- Entrance fees and charges for sites that we visit are not covered in the package price.
- Transportation is not provided outside of the planned itinerary given below.
- Any personal expenses such as laundry, tips, souvenirs, extra meals, snacks, shopping etc are not included.
- Anything that is not mentioned in the inclusions above are not included in the package.
Landing to Sri Lanka and Chilaw Tour
Once you land at the Bandaranaike International Airport you will be warmly welcomed to Sri Lanka by the team of Arabiers. Next they will guide you to your private transfer that will be taking you to Chilaw to visit some temples related to the Ramayana. The first temple that we will be visiting is the Munneswaram Temple where king Ravana used to pray to Lord Shiva and the next stop is the Manavari Temple where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva after winning over Ravana. After the adventure in Chilaw we will be travelling straight to Sigiriya. Once you reach Sigiriya you have the options to either rest at the hotel or go for an optional tour to visit the Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress which is a famous UNESCO world heritage site.
Travelling from Chilaw to Trincomalee
On day 2, enjoy a delicious breakfast that is served by the hotel. After breakfast we will be checking out from the hotel and heading out for a long drive to Trincomalee.Once you reach Trincomalee you can relax at the beach and finally check in to the hotel for some time to rest. Many of our guests also love to combine this trail with longer beach days as they love some relaxing time by the beach or a nature through our Sri Lanka holiday packages.
Trincomalee Day Tour and Transfer to Sigiriya
On day 3, enjoy a nice breakfast at the hotel and get ready for a guided tour in Trincomalee where we will be visiting various Ramayana related locations such as the Koneswaram Temple which is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Trincomalee War Cemetery,Fort Frederick and even get the chance to visit the natural Hot Water Springs in Trincomalee. Then enjoy some free time relaxing at the Nilaveli Beach. In the afternoon we will check out from the hotel and travel to our next destination, Sigiriya which is a beautiful natural town that holds great historical and cultural value. After the day’s adventures, enjoy a relaxing overnight hotel stay in Sigiriya.
Sigiriya to Kandy
On day 4, have a quick breakfast and get ready to visit the Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Apart from visiting the Sigiriya rock we will be visiting various locations such as the HiriWadunna village and the Dunuwila Lake.After the Sigiriya site visits we will be driving to Kandy and visit the the Temple of the Tooth Relic.You can take a walk around the Kandy Lake and even watch a unique Kandyan dance performance. In the evening check in to the booked hotel and enjoy an overnight hotel stay in Kandy.
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
On day 5, have a nice quick breakfast at the hotel and drive to Nuwara Eliya which is a beautiful hill country that is surrounded by tea estates, waterfalls and much more. On the way to Nuwara Eliya we will be stopping at a few key locations in the great Ramayana such as the breathtaking Ramboda waterfall,Ramboda Hanuman Temple where it is believed that Lord Hanuman rested during his search for Sita. After reaching Nuwara Eliya we will check in to the hotel and rest for some time before going on a tour. During this guided tour the first location we will be visiting is the Seetha Amman Temple where Sita was kept hidden by Ravana and the next location is the Hakgala Botanical Gardens which is believed to be the loyal palace garden of King Ravana where Hanuman found Sita.Many of these locations we visited are covered in more details in our guide to places from the Ramayana in Sri Lanka.Finally we will be visiting the mesmerising Gregory Lake in the evening for a relaxing free time. After the tour we will be returning back to the hotel for a good sleep in Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya to Ella
On day 6, have your breakfast and get ready for a drive to Ella. On our way to Ella we will be stopping at the Divurumpola Temple where it is believed that Sita faced her agni pariksha. The next two stops are the Nine Arch Bridge and the Little Adam’s Peak. Once we reach Ella we will be checking into the hotel and taking some rest before the Ella tour. The first attraction we will be visiting during this guided Ella tour is the Ravana Falls which is believed to be the bathing spot of King Ravana and next we will be climbing up to see the Ravana Cave where Ravana hid Sita for the the very first time.If you are a person that is interested in not just history but adventure then you can optionally try out the Flying Ravana Zipline for unique experience.
Ella to Colombo
On day 7, after breakfast we will be driving to Colombo. On the way we will be stopping at various locations such as the Panjamuga Anjaneya Temple,Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple and the Gangaramaya Temple. Finally once we reach Colombo we will be able to enjoy a relaxing walk at the Galle Face Green and enjoy a comfortable overnight hotel stay in Colombo.
Departure
On day 8, which is your final day in Sri Lanka, make sure to enjoy your breakfast and check out from the hotel.After you check out the private airport transfer will pick you up from the hotel and take you safely to the Katunayake International Airport in time to board your return flight home. We hope you fly back home with a heart full of joy and beautiful memories created on this mesmerising island.
