1. Tour Overview
When we guided a group of Indian Hindu Travelers on this amazing 13 nights 14 days Ramayana Trail last year on this exact same route they were amazed at how everything in the Great Ramayana epic related to all these real life places of Ramayana in Sri Lanka. We will be able to visit many key Ramayana locations like the Munneswaram temple, Manavari temple, Ramboda Hanuman Temple, Seetha Amman Temple, Ravana Cave and Ussangoda National Park.
2. Package Inclusions
- All taxes and other government charges are included in the package.
- You will be greeted by the Arabiers team at the airport.
- Transfers will be arranged in a comfortable air conditioned Car with an English speaking Driver to assist you further.
3. Package Exclusions
- Travel insurance is not included but we highly recommend you to arrange one separately for your own safety during travelling.
- International flight tickets and airfare are not covered in the package.
- Meals that are not specifically mentioned in the meal plan are not given.
- Entrance fees and charges for sites that we visit are not covered in the package price.
- Transportation is not provided outside of the planned itinerary given below.
- Any personal expenses such as laundry, tips, souvenirs, extra meals, snacks, shopping etc are not included.
- Anything that is not mentioned in the inclusions above are not included in the package.
A Day in Colombo
Once you land at the international airport in Sri Lanka you will be warmly welcomed by one of our Arabiers local licensed guides. After the warm welcome they will assist you with any of your luggage and guide you to your private transfer that will take you straight to Colombo to check in to your hotel.Once you check in to your hotel room you can take some time to rest and recover from your long flight. Enjoy the luxury at the hotel and get ready for an overnight stay.
Travel from Colombo to Chilaw
On day 2, enjoy a nice breakfast at the hotel and be ready to check out as we will be travelling from Colombo to Chilaw. On the way we will be visiting two key locations related to the Great Ramayana, the first stop is the Munneswaram Temple which is believed to be the first location that was visited by Lord Rama when he arrived in Lanka and it is also said that he prayed there to Lord Shiva for guidance before his battle with King Ravana. The next stop is the Manavari Temple which is believed to be the first place that Lord Rama made his first ever Shiva Lingam. In the evening we will be checking into the hotel Jetwing Sea or a hotel of similar category in Negombo and visit the Negombo beach and relax a bit.
Travel from Chilaw to Mannar
On day 3, have a good breakfast at the hotel, After breakfast check out from the hotel and get ready to travel from Chilaw to Mannar.The highlight of day three is visiting the Adam’s Bridge which is also known as Ram Sethu in the Ramayana in the Talaimannar area and it is believed to be a bridge built from India to Sri Lanka by god Hanuman and his huge monkey army to help Lord Rama to travel to Lanka to save Sita Devi. The remains of the bridge is still there at this location. We will be spending the night at a hotel in Mannar.
Travel from Mannar to Anuradhapura
On day 4, have a tasty breakfast. After breakfast we will be checking out from the hotel as we are travelling from Mannar to Anuradhapura. Even though this city is not directly related to the Ramayana it is indirectly related through certain aspects like how it is believed that the palace of King Ravana was located near Anuradhapura, The next aspect is that the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree which is one of the most sacred sites for Buddhists is believed to be taken from India and planted it here in Sri Lanka according to the Ramayana context, Kalu Diya Pokuna which is also known as The Black Water Pond is believed to be used by Kind Ravana for bathing or daily rituals. In the evening relax at a hotel in Anuradhapura and enjoy a comfortable overnight hotel stay,
Travel from Anuradhapura to Trincomalee
On day 5, enjoy a delicious breakfast and check out from the hotel as we will be travelling from Anuradhapura to Trincomalee. On the way we will stop at various beautiful stops like Habarana, Trincomalee beaches.Once we arrive at Trincomalee we will be checking into the hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Trincomalee.
A full day guided city tour in Trincomalee
On day 6, have your breakfast and get ready as we will be able to enjoy a full day guided city tour to learn more about the coastal city of Trincomalee. The first place we will visit is the Koneswaram Temple, it is a religious location that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is also believed that Lord Rama visited this place during his time in Lanka. We will also get the chance to see this hot water spring located close by to the temple.The next stop is the Sri Pathrakali Amman Kovil which is a very beautifully decorated colorful Hindu temple in that area. The final place we will be visiting for the day is the Pigeon Island National Park which is a natural sanctuary.
Travel from Trincomalee to Sigiriya
On day 7, have a nice breakfast at the hotel and check out from the hotel. Get ready to travel from Trincomalee to Sigiriya.Once we reach Sigiriya, we will be having a guided tour in the Sigiriya village where you will be able to experience a lot of new things related to the culture of Sri Lanka. Check in to the hotel after the tour and enjoy an overnight comfortable hotel stay in Sigiriya.
Travel from Sigiriya to Kandy
On day 8, have breakfast and travel to Kandy. In Kandy we will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, the Kandy Lake and even get the chance to watch a traditional Kandyan dance performance.
Travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
On day 9, have breakfast and we will travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya which is also known as the Little England in Sri Lanka. On the way we will stop by the Ramboda Falls, Ramboda Hanuman Temple which is believed to be the place that Lord Hanuman rested during his time in Lanka, Seetha Amman Temple and this is where Ravana kept Sita hidden from Rama. The final stop is the Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya.
Travel from Nuwara Eliya to Ella
On day 10, we will be visiting Ella and once we reach there we will be visiting many locations such as the Nine Arch Bridge, Ella Rock and the famous Ramayana related Ella Ravana Cave where Ravana first hid Sita in Lanka.
Travel from Ella to Bentota
On day 11, have breakfast and we will visit the Ussangoda National Park. It is believed to be the location where the army of Lord Rama first landed. After that we will be heading towards Bentota for an overnight hotel stay.
Bentota Beach and Guided Tour
On day 12, we will have breakfast and go on a full day guided tour in Bentota. The tour includes a river boat safari in the Madhu river, a turtle farm visit and some free time by the beach.
Travel from Bentota to Colombo
On day 13, have breakfast and after we will be leaving Bentota to go to Colombo. On the way we will be stopping by the Panjamuga Anjaneya Temple, Vibhishana Temple, Gangaramaya Temple and finally the Galle Face Green.
The Final Day of the Tour
On day 14, which will be the final day of the Ramayana tour. Enjoy a last breakfast in Sri Lanka at the hotel. After breakfast pack your bags and get ready to check out from the hotel. The airport transfer will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the international airport in time for you to board the return flight to your home country.
