Usually, the longest Sri Lankan citizens have to wait for, after submitting their Indian Visa Application form online is 3-4 working days. This is provided that the applicants filled in the necessary fields as required with their first name, surname, and date of birth with no mistakes at all. Furthermore, the process is expedited with the submission of supporting documents which include but are not limited to a scanned copy of the Sri Lankan passport, a face photograph (or a visiting card in case of business visas or a letter from the hospital for medical e-Visas).
There is, however, a possibility that a few factors may lead to an increase in the approval duration up to 7 working days. These factors can include application data contradictions, public holidays in India when applications are made, and heavy application traffic during peak holiday seasons. It is best that all applicants guarantee the validation of their application data, verify all information provided, and follow the instructions and checklist set out by the Indian visa authorities.
Applications are best submitted much earlier than the desired travel purpose dates in order to cater for any potential delays resulting from the approval process. It is also suggested to accompany the necessary documents such as identity documents and other relevant materials.
Make Sure you don’t overstay your visa duration. You will be fined according to the laws and regulations of India. This could also affect any of your future plans to come back to India again. So it is always best to travel back to your home country in due time.
You are not required to print out your e-Visa. But it is recommended that you do so. This comes in handy when you are met with the officials at the Immigration Portal. If by any chance your laptop or phone is damaged you can simply use this print out to travel hassle free.
Double check to see if your travel document has two blind sides. This means you need to have two blank travel plages in your passport. This is so that the immigration officer can add the necessary stamps during your arrival and departure from India.
Make Sure your passport is valid for at least for another 6 months. This should be from the date in which you have applied for a visa.
